FAQs

How much money will this system save me over time?

Savings vary with usage, rates, and system design; CEA’s comparison is an estimate, not a guarantee.

View CEA’s estimated savings comparison ↗

How long does it take to install the system?

Allow roughly 3–4 months to installation, about one week of construction, then typically 2–6 weeks for operating approval.

What happens if I rent out my home to tenants?

Both parties must approve: the landlord authorizes installation, and the tenant enrolls with CEA on the Solar Plus tariff.

Call (858) 585-4241 to discuss a rental property.

What size is the system that will be installed on my home?

Tesla designs around annual consumption and roof space, refining the initial estimate with you.

How long do the solar panels last?

CEA lists at least 25 years, with equipment generally designed for over 30.

Will I ever need to replace my solar panel or battery?

The program covers panel and battery replacements without an additional equipment replacement charge.

How do batteries work with solar?

Solar supplies the home first, then charges storage. Remaining surplus exports to the utility for applicable credits.

How much space will I need for the battery?

CEA lists approximately 30 × 46 × 6 inches per Powerwall. Battery count and installation clearances depend on the design and building requirements.

What if my system has problems?

Tesla provides system service and troubleshooting.

Do I get tax incentives for installing the system?

The owning fund receives the incentives and incorporates them into program financing; homeowners do not receive them.

What happens if I sign up for panels but then change my mind a year later and want to own the system at that time?

You may purchase the system at its fair market value.

How long does the battery last on average?

Operation or replacement is covered throughout the contract. CEA anticipates one battery replacement during that period.

What happens when I sell my home?

Discover Clean Energy describes transfer to the buyer without further underwriting. Review the actual transfer conditions before signing.

Can I learn more without committing?

The source advertises educational Tuesday webinars and optional consultations without an obligation to proceed. Ask about current availability.
